Bochart, Hierozoicon · reading edition (pilot)

Samuel Bochart, Hierozoicon

Hierozoicon, sive bipertitum opus de animalibus Sacrae Scripturae (London 1663): the standard early-modern study of every animal in the Bible, in Latin with Greek, Hebrew, Aramaic, Syriac and much Arabic, and a main source for later work on the animals of the Bible and the Talmud. No modern translation exists. This pilot gives one chapter, in the edition of E. F. C. Rosenmüller (Leipzig 1793–96), as a machine transcription and English translation, to see what current tools can do with it.
